Good luck is bestowed upon the wearer of henna. On New Year=s Day, Saida is applying henna to my feet and hands. Henna is a warm brown-red dye used to draw designs on the feet and the hands. More intricate patterns are used for weddings and feast days. Henna remains on the skin about 20-30 days and is thought to enhance a woman=s beauty. Photo by Sue Boucher.
